FAQ

Tell me about the history of Dachshunds...

The Dachshund, known for its distinctive elongated body and short legs, has a fascinating history dating back to at least the 15th century in Europe. Originally bred in Germany, they were primarily used for hunting badgers (hence the name "Dachshund," which translates to "badger dog" in German), as well as other burrow-dwelling animals like rabbits. Their long, slender bodies allowed them to navigate through tunnels and burrows with ease.

Dachshunds gained popularity beyond Germany in the 19th century, especially in England and later in the United States. Queen Victoria was particularly fond of the breed, helping to popularize it in the UK. In the US, Dachshunds became widely recognized in the early 20th century and quickly gained popularity, eventually becoming one of the most beloved dog breeds in the country.

How do I reserve a puppy?

Please email us at anaminis@gmail.com and we will start your approval process. It is important to us that our puppies go home to loving and knowledgeable families so we will conduct a video interview to meet your family, check out the home, and verify that you are prepared to take home your little one. After the video interview we will arrange for payment to be transferred to reserve your puppy. The non-refundable deposit is $250 and is deducted from the final cost of the puppy.

What is the fee for a puppy?

The fee for each puppy changes depending on the gender, color, and conformation but the starting price is $3500 per puppy. During our video interview, we can discuss the price of the puppy you are interested in.

Do you ship puppies to other states?

Unfortunately, we are a small company and we prioritize health and welfare of our pups over all else. Thus, we are not comfortable shipping our babies to other states through third parties and cannot accommodate air transport at this time. All pick-ups must be performed by the family intending to keep the puppy, but we are happy to coordinate around flight times if coming from further away than local areas.

Can we see where the puppies are raised? Can we meet mom and dad?

When you come to meet the puppies, you are welcome to meet mom and see where they were raised. Sometimes, dad is a stud dog that lives several states away so he may not be available for meet-and-greets as readily as mom is.

What veterinary checks are performed before the puppies go home with us?

Before going home, your puppy will be examined by a veterinarian to be sure they are free of congenital defects and in good health. They will also have their first DAPP vaccine performed, which protects them from viruses in the environment (distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, and parainfluenza). They will also be dewormed twice (at 6 weeks and 8 weeks) and sent home with their first does of flea and tick treatment.

What will the puppy get when going home with us? What should we bring when we collect them?

We will send you home with some puppy kibble, biodegradable poop bags, and a blanket that smells familiar to help your new pup acclimate to their new home. We will also send you home with their health certificate, pedigree, and vaccine history. When you collect your pup, please bring a transport carrier, extra-small collar and lightweight (usually nylon) 6-foot leash.

What is your policy on spaying and neutering?

We request a refundable deposit of $600 paid on top of the price of the puppy, and this deposit will be returned when you provide a veterinarian's letter proving that your pup has been spayed or neutered and is fully up to date with their shots.

What is expected of us after we bring our puppy home?

We would love to keep in contact with all families that take home a little one. We will conduct additional video interviews at 2, 6, and 12 months after going home with you to verify that everything is going smoothly at your home. We request that if a puppy is not a good fit or your circumstances have changed, that you contact us to let us know. We understand that life happens, and will always welcome a puppy back with open arms should you need it.
